History Trust of South Australia Workplace

Design

Located in the heritage listed Security House at the heart of Adelaide’s Cultural precinct, the History Trust of South Australia engaged Brown Falconer to design and document their new workplace. Through the collaborative CO-LAB process,  the project team delivered the vision and concept design in four weeks and documentation in six weeks.

Recognising the importance of the work that the History Trust undertakes, the fitout design touches lightly on the heritage building whilst creating spaces for the people to connect, collaborate and share our state’s stories. An agile workplace with zones based on workstyles and acoustic preferences, the natural palette balances respect for the heritage foundation with a contemporary interpretation in form.

The fast-track program included test fits of potential tenancy options, working to a fixed project budget and navigating the balance between client aspirations, project budget and program reality. Delivered by Shape, the 640m² fitout came in under budget, provides natural light to the open plan arrangement and reflects the new DIT office accommodation standards.
