For the past two decades, Rising Sun Pictures has been delighting and inspiring audiences worldwide, so it was an absolute pleasure to work with them in co creating their workplace expansion at 190 Flinders Street. Spanning 1850m2 across two floors, acclaimed VFX artists and personnel create movie magic in a mix of Review Spaces, Education Areas, Meeting Rooms, Collaboration, Social and Quiet Spaces. This is an environment Where Creativity Thrives and the design embodies four key guiding principles; Inspires & Delights, Connects & Grows, Supports & Respects and Innovates & Ventures. Finishes selected in earthy tones of green, clay and browns work within the site context. There is an honesty to the materials used, natural finishes are used extensively and planting also adds to the sense of wellbeing. A dominant design feature is the Gallery Walls that hug the lift core. Timber veneer panelling with illuminated recesses for awards and movie posters create a jewellery box effect, highlighting the latest RSP accolades and work. The combination of exposed ceilings and stripped back floor surface gives the Workplace a soft industrial feel. The result is a workplace reflective of this award-winning visual effects studio, a space that facilitates the pushing of boundaries and fosters creative excellence.
